This fall, Ellis Early Learning is excited to announce the launch of our new planned giving program. The 1885 Society will enable donors to make charitable bequests to Ellis, providing sustained support for Ellis’s work in future years. The 1885 Society allows Ellis to recognize and celebrate those people who choose this path for ensuring that children from all backgrounds have the best possible start in life.
There are two ways to make planned gifts:
· Naming Ellis as a beneficiary in your will. Whether you would like to make a gift of a specific sum or a percentage of your estate, Ellis can provide language for your attorney to add to an existing will or include in a new will.
· Naming Ellis a beneficiary or contingent beneficiary of your IRA, donor-advised fund, or other financial account.
Both approaches let you use your assets for the duration of your lifetime while making a meaningful commitment to Ellis. Bequests may also reduce your eventual estate tax burden, leaving more assets to your heirs.
Patti Keenan, Ellis’s Vice President of Advancement, Community, and Equity, notes, “Planned gifts enable us to budget for the future and continue providing excellent early childhood education for Boston children regardless of socioeconomic status. By including Ellis in their estate planning, donors have the opportunity to support our work in a lasting manner, and we hope the launch of this program will make supporters feel empowered to include Ellis as part of their legacy.”
Your planned gift will help ensure we can keep helping our students develop the social, emotional, and academic skills they need to be successful in school and in life. A local and national model for inclusive, equitable early childhood education, Ellis is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, putting us in the top 6% of early childhood education programs nationwide. We pride ourselves on the diversity of our student body : 61% of our students receive childcare subsidies from the government, 20% have open cases with the Department of Children and Families, and 80% are children of color. Philanthropy, including planned giving, is essential for us to continue serving our students.
