Volunteer in a classroom

Ongoing volunteer opportunities enable volunteers to get to know a certain group of children well, so we ask that you please take these commitments and relationships seriously. The following list provides examples of ways you may get involved:

  • Lend support in our infant, toddler, and preschool classrooms

  • Help serve or supervise lunch and snack time

  • Read to a child or a group of children

  • Supervise or lead various activities (e.g. games, songs, arts and crafts projects, drawing, coloring, sand table, etc.)

  • Help supervise children at Ellis’ Children’s Park or on a walk nearby

Classroom shifts occur Monday through Friday in the morning (9:30 am - 12:30 pm) and in the afternoon (3-5:30 pm).

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old and undergo a Background Check (BRC) and fingerprinting through the Department of Early Education and Care.

Volunteer Fundraising Opportunities

We invite you to help organize Ellis events by joining one of our event Host Committees:

  • The Ellis Baking Challenge with Joanne Chang Host Committee (event on June 9, 2024)

  • Celebrating Ellis and the Magic of Childhood Host Committee (event on November 7, 2024)

If you prefer hosting an event for Ellis at your home or your company, you can:

  • Host house parties to raise awareness of Ellis Early Learning

  • Organize a Lunch & Learn at your company
