Jamileth Valentin is an unsung hero at Ellis. She joined our community in 2013 and currently teaches in the Bruins classroom, one of our Boston Public Schools preschool (UPK) classrooms. Growing up, Jamileth’s teachers provided a sense of community and let her know how much they cared about her.
The impact of their nurturing presence ultimately drew her to the Early Education field and helped her become a warm, engaging educator with the desire to make a difference in someone else’s life.
Jamileth appreciates that Ellis provides a supportive environment for educators who want to succeed in early education. She believes the strength of this teaching community is due in part to the year-round programming offered at Ellis. Educators have the opportunity to work with children continuously, which allows unique bonds of trust to form. Jamileth is proud to witness each of her students’ individual milestones and loves that she is able to learn from the different cultures that comprise Ellis’s diverse community.
Jamileth’s favorite children’s book is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin, Jr. and John Archambault. Her students always request it, and the book always captures their attention.
