On Wednesday evening, April 15, Ellis hosted a reception at Grogan & Company Auctioneers on Charles Street. The evening offered an exclusive private preview of Grogan’s upcoming spring collection. Guests admired fine art, including paintings, etchings, lithographs and photographs, and some dazzling jewelry to be auctioned later in the season.

Mingling over drinks and assorted delicious snacks, Ellis supporters and their invited guests browsed the gallery at leisure. The auction catalogue gave more information about each item, including the starting bid price. Everyone learned a bit about how the auction business works.

Every guest also appreciated the chance to learn more about Ellis in an engaging setting. CEO Lauren Cook, Chief Advancement Officer Dawn Hayes, Major Gifts Officer Pam Colbert, and other Ellis staff members were there to answer questions and share stories of the magic that is Ellis. The guests, especially the ten who were new to Ellis, valued the time to get to know staff and donors and ask the questions that mattered most to them.

Marie Giandomenico, an Ellis Trustee and guest at the Grogan event, loved learning about the two institutions at this event. She said, “What stood out most was the opportunity to speak one-on-one with both Grogan and Ellis staff. I gained insight into the art world, and I found it meaningful to connect with Ellis staff and learn more about their work in early childhood and their day-to-day roles. It made the experience feel engaging, relevant, and personal.”

“Events like our evening at Grogan & Company,” said CEO Lauren Cook, “reflect what Ellis values most: curiosity, discovery, and meaningful connection. Bringing our community together in inspiring spaces allows us to celebrate shared values, spark new learning, and say thank you in a way that feels as special as the experiences we create for our children.”

We are so grateful to President Georgina Winthrop, Gallery Manager Sarah Colbert, and the full Grogan & Company team for inviting Ellis and hosting this special evening.
